Wertheimer owned palaces and gardens in Vienna and numerous estates and houses in Frankfurt, Worms and other cities of Germany. He established schools and distributed large amounts of money in Europe and in the Holy Land. He answered questions from far and wide about religion, mainly of our ritual as he presided over the rabbinical court.

By 1942 we were at war so Wolf had to register and was 49 years old and an acting rabbi which was now his occupation. He lived at 994 N. Marshall St in Philadelphia, born in Jerusalem. Mr. Morris Wertheimer (his son) was the closest member to know where he was and he lived at 992 N 7th. Wolf was a rabbi at 983 N. Franklin St. Later I found that Wolf died January 1966 at age 74. He was naturalized as an American citizen on June 25, 1924 in Philadelphia.
A daughter had been born and died to Wolf and Matte on April 30, 1942, buried at Mt. Judah Cemetery.

Surprisingly, I found other Wertheimers in New York.
Joseph Wertheimer was born in 1868 in Philadelphia! His parents were Louis Wertheimer and Bertha Luvon. At age 36 he married Augusta Baumgarten who was 30 and born in 1874 in New York City. They married in April 1934 in Manhattan, NY. His father, Louis, was from Germany as told on the 1900 census and was born June 1836 and was a widower now 63 years old.. In 1900 he was 33 years old, living with his father.
Dr. Michael Aaron Wertheimer and Benjamin Wertheimer are on our Goldfoot line through Dr. Sandra Oster, my brother, Dr. David Goldfoot and myself. My brother and Sandra also match Peter Andre while I do not. We three have a variety of different Wertheimer men that we match.
What shocked me was that we had 7 Wertheimers buried at the Beth Israel Cemetery which is the Reformed synagogue. They are buried in Portland, Oregon.
1. Sig died on 20 June 1929 at Block 73 Sec 2 Plot 8 all at the same block and sec.
2. Sam died on 21 Nov. 1909
3. Michael died on 1 Jan 1902
4. Gotto died on 16 Jan 1914
5. Maurice died at unknown year.
6. Edward died on 1 Jan 1907
7. Clara died on 2 Jan 1911.
On the 8 June 1880 Portland, Oregon census I found we had a Wertheimer family with the following:
M. Wertheimer b: Germany was 55 b: 1825 and a grocer
Gertrude, wife b: France in 1835 was 45
Julius was 17 b in California
Jacob was 15 born in Portland
Fredrick was 12 born in Portland
Ida was 10 born in Portland.
Maurice was 8 born in Portland
Joseph was 6 born in Portland
and their daughter Jennie 21
Daughter's husband Isador Isaacs 28
Florence 8 months
and a male lodger, 23, a Hamen maker b in France
There are many Wertheimer lines, but Dr. Paull suggests that Wertheim and Wertheimer descendants are, indeed, genetic matches. Dr Paull is related to the Wertheim line and has traced his line back to Rabbi Aryeh Leib Wertheim born in 1780 and died in Moldova in 1854.
